Programming the Scanner

CODE39FA.EXE

This program installs a Full ASCII/Code 3 of 9 emulation program in the
scanner.  After CODE39FA.EXE has been run, the SCANTEAM 6180 will
transmit any scanned label data (regardless of the symbology) in Code 3 of
9 format (the RS–232 data is inhibited).  The CODE39FA.EXE program is
transferred to the scanner through the PC’s serial communication channel
(COM1).  To restore the original decoding protocol,  the routine
UNINSTAL.EXE must be run.

UNINSTAL.EXE

This program will remove the Full ASCII/Code 3 of 9 emulation capability
from the scanner.  When the UNINSTAL.EXE routine has been run, the
SCANTEAM 6180 will revert to normal operation and transmit any
scanned label data according to the designated symbology format(s).  The
UNINSTAL program is transferred to the scanner through the PC’s serial
communication channel (COM1).

XON/XOFF Feature

The SCANTEAM 6180 has an XON/XOFF capability that allows you to
control data flow between the scanner and the PC using a software
“handshake.”

The command “DC1” (Hex 11) sent from the PC to the scanner will initiate
communication and cause the scanner to transmit any buffered data and
any data successfully decoded.

The command “DC3” (Hex 13) sent from the PC to the scanner will
suspend the transmission of bar code data from the scanner.
