SECURITY LABELS

The UNITY500 incorporates security labels over some of the screws. There are no user
serviceable components within the IRD.  Tampering with the security labels, or opening the unit,
will void your warranty.  If you have questions, contact Wegener's Customer Support
Department at the address or phone (fax) numbers listed in Section

1.8

 (Page 19) of this manual.

1.7

UNIT INTERCONNECTIONS

Connect the IRD to the desired equipment as follows:

See

Table 1

(Page13) for a list of interconnections.

Chassis Ground -

Using #12 AWG or larger wire, connect the ground to a system or rack

ground.

RF Switch In (Optional Module)-

Using 75-Ohm coaxial cable with a type-F connector,

connect up to four (4) RF inputs to this switch.  Follow your service provider’s instructions
for proper connections.  The exact antenna-to-switch connection is extremely important to
allow proper unit operation.  If this module is not installed, go to “RF In” below.  Ensure that
the unit’s F connector does NOT support the cable’s weight. (See Caution below.)

Note: LNB Power is DC-Blocked by the RF Switch, and is not available at any of the RF

Switch In connectors.  (See RF In.)

RF In –

Using 75-Ohm coaxial cable with a type F connector, connect the output of the RF

Switch to this connector.  If there is no RF Switch installed, connect the RF Input directly to
this connector.  LNB power is factory set to ON.  This power is available only at the RF IN
connector. (See RF Switch In.)

Video Connections

-

Composite Main:

Connect the composite video output (labeled ‘Video Main’) to the

desired unit using a standard phono plug cable.  The equipment it is connected to

MUST

have a 75-ohm termination.

-

Composite Monitor:

Connect the second Composite video output (labeled ‘Video Mon’

to the desired unit using a standard phono plug cable.

* * * CAUTION * * *

When connecting cables to “F” type connectors apply a force of no
more than 12 inch/lb. (Finger tight).  Avoid connecting adapters
directly to “F” type connectors.  Use at minimum a 1-foot flexible
extension cable between “F” type connectors and adapters.
