Electrical system
The electrical system is 2 poled and has a system voltage of 12V. For effective charging the generator is
equipped with a charge regulator and for reliable cold starts the engine has glow plugs.
WARNING!
Always stop the engine and break the current using the main switches before working on the
electrical system. Isolate shore current to the engine block heater, battery charger, or accessories mounted
on the engine.
Main switch
The main switch must never be turned off before the
engine has stopped. If the circuit between the
generator and the battery is cut off when the engine is
running the generator can be seriously damaged. For
the same reason charging circuits must never be
switched over while the engine is running.
IMPORTANT!
Never break the circuit with the
main switches while the engine is running.
Fuses
If the engine cannot be started or if all instruments
read zero, an engine fuse can have blown.
Always
investigate the reason!
The engine has two semi-
automatic fuses which will cut off the current if there
is an overload. Reset the fuses by pressing in the two
reset buttons (1). The engine also has a 55 A ground
protection fuse (2) attached to the cable harness. If
this has blown then it must be replaced.
Always carry
a spare fuse on board.
NOTE!
The Power Trim equipment also has fuses.
See under heading: SX-drive.
Electrical connections
Also check that all electrical connections are dry and
free of oxidation and that there are no loose
connections. If necessary, spray these connections
with a water-repellent spray (Volvo Penta Universal
oil).
