14. Comparative Mode (COMP-Mode)
In comparative measurement, the main display only shows the respective status of the currently measured value as
compared to the range thresholds set after determination of a top and bottom threshold for the current measured unit.
Proceed as follows to set the comparative mode threshold values:

Switch on the DMM and select the respective measuring range

Insert the measuring lines into the respective measuring sockets.

Keep the “SHIFT/SETUP” button pressed for approx. 2 s. This top left of the display indicates “SHIFT”. They are
now in “SHIFT” mode.

Keep the “SHIFT/SETUP” button pressed again for approx. 2 s to enter SETUP mode. This display now shows
the symbol “SETUP” above the value “01”

Now set the top threshold for comparative mode. Use the buttons “LOAD/” and “SAVE/” to select the individual
positions and change their values with the “+” and “-” buttons.

Press the “SHIFT/SETUP” after the setting is made to set the lower threshold for comparative mode. Use the but-
tons “LOAD/” and “SAVE/” again to select the individual positions and change their values with the “+” and “-” but-
tons.

Press the “SHIFT/SETUP” button to determine the measurement status. When selecting “outer”, the measured
value is declared as passed (PASS) if it is outside of the top and bottom thresholds; for “inner”, the measured val-
ue is declared as passed (PASS) if it is within the top and bottom thresholds.

Leave SETUP mode by pressing the “SHIFT/SETUP” button for approx. 2 s.
Perform comparative measurement:

Select the respective measuring range.

Keep the “SHIFT/SETUP” button pressed for approx. 2 s. This top left of the display indicates “SHIFT”. You are
now in “SHIFT” mode.

Press the “COMP” button.
The automatic measuring range selection is deactivated now. Before starting measurement now,
ensure that the correct measuring range is set. Select it with the “RANGE” button.

Connect the two measuring prods with the object to be measured

The measured value is displayed with the corresponding unit.

The upper right display shows the symbols “PASS” (passed) and “NG” (not passed) to show if the current mea-
sured value is within or outside of the threshold values set, depending on the previous setting.

Press the button “COMP” again to terminate comparative mode.
