9. COMMISSIONING
The charger must be operated with a stabilised direct voltage (12 - 18 V/DC).
Never use the charger with another voltage as this will destroy the charger and
invalidate the warranty/guarantee!
Depending on the battery connected, a charging current of up to 20 A is
possible. For this reason, the power supply chosen must be strong enough.
We recommend that you either use a fully charged car battery or a mains
adapter with an output current of 30 A. Of the charge output is to be fully
utilised, use a mains adapter with an output voltage of 15 - 18 V/DC.
Connect the connection cable of the charger to the power supply. Ensure correct polarity
(plus/+ and minus/-)! The red cable must be connected to the positive pole (plus/+), the
black one with the negative one (minus/-).
The charger emits a brief signal sound and the LC display is illuminated. The charger is
now in the main menu; the display shows, e.g., the following:
Please observe the following points before connecting/charging the battery:
• If you have not done so already, please read chapter 5 and 6 completely and
ensure that you have understood the information there.
• Do you know all of the information you need to know about your battery?
Unknown or unlabelled batteries, the necessary values of which you do not
know, must not be connected/charged/discharged!
• Have you selected the correct charging program for the type of battery you
are using? Incorrect settings will damage the charger and the battery; there
is a danger of fire and explosion!
• Did you set the right charging current?
• Have you selected the correct voltage (e.g. for multiple-cell LiPo batteries)?
A two-cell LiPo battery may be switched in parallel (3.7 V) or series (7.4 V).
• Are all connector cables and plugs undamaged, do the plugs stay firmly in
the sockets? Worn plugs and damaged cables should be replaced.
