Energy management
How it works
The status of the energy supply can be consulted at a glance in the Battery menu of the display and operating
unit for camping for camping equipment. The charge level of the additional battery is shown graphically as a bar
display with ten segments. The current flow is the current flow of the additional battery.
The remaining time indicates the time until the shut-off level is reached. The display is in hours and minutes.
When it reaches 60 hours, > 60 h is displayed. The average electrical current of the current operating time is used
as the basis for calculation (starting when the engine is switched off or the external power connection is
removed).
If the vehicle is supplied with external power when the engine is switched off, the starter and additional battery
are charged by the charging relay of the on-board charger closing. If the charge level of the additional battery is
very low, the charging relay is not closed. Now only the additional battery is charged until its charge level is
sufficient. However, if the starting capacity of the starter battery is no longer sufficient, the charging relay is
closed immediately so that both batteries will be charged.
In addition to this parallel charging function of the batteries, the on-board charger has a separate output for
permanent trickle charging of the starter battery with up to approx. 2.5 A.
To fully and optimally charge the additional battery, regardless of vehicle functions, maximum alternator voltage
and increased idling speed can be requested when the engine is running by pressing the maximum battery
charge button, located in the dash panel.
