under
"HDD"
of
SmartControl
or
SmartControl PRO
software..
Which data
will be
stored on the
removable hard
disk?
In
addition
to
video
data,
additional
information
and
settings
are
stored
on
the
removable
hard
disk.
This
is
to
enable
convenient
evaluation
with
other
SmartDisc
units,
or
in
offline
mode
with
evaluation
PCs.
Moreover,
to
enable
trouble-free
operation
of
several
removable
hard
disks
with
the
same
SmartDisc
unit,
and
to
ensure
protection
from
access
by
unauthorised
persons.
This
information
includes:
■
Copy
of
camera
and
camera
group
names
■
Serial
number
of
the
recording
device
■
All
criteria
relevant
to
the
video
recording
(refer
to
"Factory
settings"
under
"Site
archive"
)
for
a
complete
list
of
criteria.
■
Log
file
(refer
to
chapter
"Log
file"
for
a
complete
list
of
possible
log
file
entries)
SmartControl
software
allows
storage
of
the
most
important
settings
in
the
SmartDisc
flash
memory.
Saved
settings
can
be
written
conveniently
to
additional
or
new
hard
disks
later.
Factory settings /
configuration profile
When
commissioning
a
new
removable
hard
disk
in
combination
with
a
new
SmartDisc
unit,
the
factory
settings
stored
in
the
SmartDisc
unit
will
be
used
for
automatic
configuration
of
the
removable
hard
disk.
After
configuration
with
SmartControl
or
SmartControl PRO
software
you
can
save
your
personal
device
configuration
in
the
form
of
a
profile
in
a
SmartDisc
flash
memory
and
use
this
profile
again,
e.g.
when
changing
hard
disks,
or
for
fast
preparation
of
additional
other
removable
hard
disks.
Reset
the
device
as
described
in
chapter
"Device
reset"
if
you
want
to
reset
the
device
to
factory
settings
.
When
using
removable
hard
disks
previously
used
in
SmartDisc
units
belonging
to
a
different
generation,
any
recordings
will
be
deleted
automatically,
the
hard
disk
will
be
reformatted,
and
the
configuration
stored
in
SmartDisc
will
be
implemented.
In
exceptional
cases
loss
of
data
may
occur
within
the
same
generation,
however
only
in
cases
of
extensive
firmware
change.
