22. ECG Measurement
The process of depolarization and polarization of the myocardium generates electronic potentials that are
sensed by ECG electrodes on the surface of the patient’s skin.
The V1407 is typically used with an ECG 3 Lead Cable.
WARNING
Check if the ECG cable is damaged before taking the ECG measurement. A damaged ECG cable will not
transmit electrical impulses correctly and causes erroneous readings.
Use only a VETLAND genuine ECG Cable with the V1407. Other ECG cables may cause improper
performance and/or provide inadequate protection during defibrillation.
It is possible for a patient to receive a burn due to an improperly connected electrosurgical unit.
Additionally, the monitor could be damaged or measurement errors could occur.
CAUTION
Disposable electrodes are not recommended as the signal will be diminished and noise will
be present on the wave trace.
Wash patient’s skin before using an electrode. When the patient’s skin is coated with lotion,
oil, etc., adhesive strength of the electrode can be lower and ECG response time can be
longer.
Use a damp cloth with soap solution to clean the ECG cable...
ECG Measurement Procedure
1
Connect the ECG cable to the ECG
connection terminal of the
measurement module.
