Using your Vertu phone
51
World Maps
World Maps
is available to any SIM card users, designed for a wide range
of use in countries or regions other than Japan.
To use the
World Maps
service, select the following when you are outside
Japan and while in an outdoor area with a clear and unobstructed view of
the sky.
Note that in order to use this feature, you need a set of map data on the internal
memory card. When you first receive your Vertu phone, the latest maps for all
countries of the world have been pre-installed on the internal memory card.
1. From the Home screen, select
Menu
»
World Maps
.
2. When a screen prompt asking you to select either
Yes
,
In home
network
or
No
appears, select
Yes
to allow automatic Internet
connection whenever necessary, or select
No
to decline it.
>
When you select
Yes
, you may be able to get faster and better GPS fix result
by also allowing the automatic Internet connection (packet network
connection) in addition to the reception of satellite signals through the phone's
built-in GPS receiver. In addition, map data can also be automatically
downloaded in packet connection when needed. Since map data involves files
that are larger in size, when downloading data while overseas, packet
connection can result in extraordinarily expensive roaming fee. Be aware of
this when selecting
Yes
.
>
If you are a user of SIM card issued by foreign service provider, you can select
In home network
to allow your phone to connect to the Internet automatically
only when you are in the home network of your service provider. If you are a
VERTU Club SIM card user or a user of SIM card issued by any Japanese
service provider, you can also select this option here to have the same effect
as selecting
No
, because this
World Maps
application is assumed to be used
in countries or regions other than Japan.
The map data stored on the internal memory card can be updated at any
time by using the Map Loader application and a PC. For more information
on Map Loader, refer to "Installing Map Loader" (page 53).
Torch
When you are outside at night or in an otherwise dark place and in need of
a light for a short period of time, press and hold the [ * ] key from the Home
screen to quickly illuminate the torch on the back of your Vertu phone.
Once the torch is lit, it will remain lit for approximately 60 seconds until you
press and hold the [ * ] key again.
You can use the other features of your Vertu phone as you normally would
while the torch is lit. For example, you can write a message or use nearly all
other applications, such as Web, Calendar, Contacts, Gallery, etc., while
the torch is lit.
However, the torch is turned off when you use Camera, Video recorder or
make / receive a call while the torch is lit.
While the torch is lit, the
icon appears at the upper left of the Home
screen.
Checking the IMEI serial number
Should you want to check your Vertu phone's IMEI serial number, dial *#06#
from the Home screen. The IMEI serial number will be displayed on screen.
Make a note of your IMEI serial number and keep it in a safe place.
Note:
The NAVITIME service, offered on your Vertu phone, supports
the Japanese language only.
Note:
