A message in the Diagnostics application indicating sensor problems in the system.

weather data

Weather parameter values in the WeatherView application, in contrast to system data.

weather data screen

A screen in the WeatherView application The system contains at least one weather
data screen that includes the centerfield wind data, time, LLWAS processing status
information, and one or more LLWAS screens. Depending on the workstation type and
installation, the weather data screens can also include wind roses and weather data
fields for other weather parameters.

WeatherView

An AviMet application for viewing wind data, microburst alerts, and windshear alerts
for the specified runways. The application can optionally include other weather data
fields and wind roses.

windshear

A weather event involving abrupt changes in wind speed and/or direction over a short
distance. See also windshear alert and windshear conditions.

windshear alert

An alert generated in the WeatherView application when the calculated windshear
conditions exist. See also windshear and windshear conditions.

windshear conditions

Based on horizontal wind speed and wind direction measurements, the AviMet LLWAS
system uses the LLWAS phase III algorithm to compare the current wind situation
differences to airport-specific threshold values to determine if possible windshear
conditions exist. These calculated conditions are referred to as windshear conditions.

workstation

A PC with a set of AviMet applications. Different workstations may include different
