For each principal AviMet function, there is a separate ROA process. ROA
processes are system services that run within the CDU(s) and have no user
interface. These processes start automatically when the CDU is started and
require no logging in. In duplicated systems, the processes are duplicated;
there is one process on each CDU.
ROA processes receive data from sensors, process it, and forward it to
other processes or to end-user applications. For this purpose, the processes
generate ROA objects. During data processing and transmission, the ROA
objects act as containers for the data.
A typical ROA architecture is presented in Figure 5 on page 31 .
