In addition to the result, the symbol "I” (17) is
displayed for approx. 2 s. Within this time peri-
od, the main test (RCD tripping) can be started
by pressing the "Start” key (25) a second time.
Without pressing of the "Start” key (25) a sec-
ond time, only the preliminary test is carried
out. Thus the contact voltage VC and the earth
resistance RE can be measured without RCD
tripping.
For time-delayed RCDs, a waiting time of 30 s
is started after the second pressing of the
"Start” key, before performing the main test at
double I
∆
N. The remaining waiting time is dis-
played on the LCD. If required, the test can be
interrupted using the rotary switch.

• Trip time (tA) is displayed in the large result
window (12).
• Contact voltage VC on the small result window
(14).

The "Display” key (32) is used to select between
the test results trip time (tA) and earth resis-
tance RE in the large result window (12).
If the RCD trips, the "Socket Error” (6) symbol
is di-splayed as no mains voltage is present at
the instru-ment. If the RCD already trips dur-
ing the preliminary test, the attention symbol
(1) is displayed in addition to the "Socket Error”

the RCD is faulty.
If trip time tA of RCD exceeds 300ms the "
" symbol (1) is displayed and for trip time dis-
play, the symbol for limit exceeding (3) ap-
pears.
If trip time (tA) of RCD exceeds 500ms, the
measure-ment value for an trip time is dis-
played as ">500ms". The "Attention" symbol (1)
is displayed and for trip time display, the sym-
bol for limit exceeding (3) appears.Possibly,

N has
been selected or the RCD is faulty.
If the generated contact voltage between N-PE
higher than the selected contact voltage limit,
the measurement is interrupted and symbol
„UB>UL" (4) is displayed. If the measurement
result for VC within the measurement range the
values for VC and RE are still displayed.
If a test has been interrupted because the con-
tact voltage limit UL has been exceeded, the
"UB>UL” symbol (4) disappears, once the
mains plug is removed from the socket and
plugged into a faultless socket.
When saving the measurement values, the
UB>UL error is, however, saved. If several
measurements are carried out, interrupted
only by „short" breaks, the internal overtem-
perature protection of TELARIS 0100 is trig-
gered and the symbol for overtemperature (18)
appears on the display. The next RCD test can
only be started, once the instrument has cooled
down and after the symbol (18) has gone out.
Instrument damage will therefore be avoided.
Any leakage current (within the current circuit)
existing after the residual current protection
device or possibly present voltage between
protective ground conductor and ground may
influence the measurements.
