Product Overview
ULB-R110-480-240-IP Series of portable indoor Resistive Load Banks are designed for
installation and operations indoors. The Load Bank is an industrial power test unit
specifically designed for indoor operation and will absorb a balanced resistive load at unity
power factor. A hand held Operator Control Unit with HMI Display allows the user to
control and monitor individual-discrete load steps, cooling fans, control circuits, and safety
circuits. Electrical energy from the power source under test is absorbed by the load bank
resistors and converted into heat. The installed cooling fans provide necessary cooling
airflow to cool the resistor load elements. The Load Bank Unit and hand held control unit
provide the necessary principle system components for control and operation.
ULB-R110-480-240-IP Series of portable indoor Resistive Load Banks are digitally
controlled with networking capabilities. The unit is operated by a hand held touch screen
controller which is connected to load bank by a supplied control cable assembly.
The load bank is portable unit with casters and handles, hence it can be easily moved to
the testing place. Power connections plug in to Cam-Lok Connectors provided on the load
bank. Use included power cord to connect 120VAC, 60Hz power from 10A outlet plug to
load bank’s Control and cooling fan power circuits.
Load Circuits
: Includes load power resistors, load step switching and main input load
bus.
Cooling System
: Includes 120VAC externally powered cooling fans installed inside
load bank. PLC controller monitors health status of cooling fans and failure of cooling
fans is indicated on HMI display. Any connected load is automatically disconnected
when cooling fan failure is detected.
Control Circuits
: Includes 120 VAC controls, load application circuits, cooling fans
circuits, and hand held display unit.
Safety Circuits
: This load bank is provided with automatic protection to de-energize
the load elements if un-safe conditions arise on following signals. Also, branch circuit
protection for load power resistor circuits, cooling fans & control circuits are provided.
1) Over voltage and voltage imbalance on 3 phase 480/240VAC input power
2) 3 phase 480/240VAC input power is not within safe limit of operation.
3) Over temperature on exhaust air outlet.
4) 3 Phase (480/240VAC) current imbalance due to failure in load element / circuit
component inside load bank or external 3 phase power voltage (480/240VAC) are
imbalance.
5) Fan Fault due to failure of cooling fan(s) inside the load bank.
The Load Bank should never be used without the cooling fans operating. Inadequate
cooling airflow will result in resistor load elements overheating, fire hazard, and
danger to personnel.
