APPENDIX A: INSTALLATION CHECKLIST
To Do
Complete
Requirements
INITIAL REQUIREMENTS—WATER ENGINEER
1.
Check recirculating water background fluorescence.
2.
Ensure turbidity is less than 50 NTU. (NOTE: Install appropriate filter/strainer on inlet if
required).
3.
Assure water temperatures of 32-140
o
F.
INSTALLATION REQUIREMENTS—WATER ENGINEER
1.
Locate monitor within 100 feet of sample point.
2.
Locate monitor out of direct sunlight.
3.
Locate monitor where ambient temperatures are 39.2–120
°
F / 4–49
°
C.
4.
Locate monitor at least 10 ft [3 m] from devices such as large generators, which require a great
deal of electrical power, or generate a strong electromagnetic field.
CUSTOMER REQUIREMENTS—PLUMBER
1.
Sample stream must be plumbed to the monitor to deliver at a rate >0.1 L/min (0.5-4 L/min) and
<100 psig [689.5 kPa(g)]. Two 0.25 in. [6.35 mm] FNPT pipe connections are provided for pipe
hook-up (see
Figure 6
). Turner Designs Hydrocarbon Instruments recommends flex lines for the
inlet/outlet connections. Ensure sampling point avoids air entrapment.
2.
Sample from side of water line to avoid air entrapment (if appropriate).
3.
Provide free, unrestricted drain for sample stream if possible. If the system must be plumbed
back into a pressurized process line, the line pressure must be sufficient enough to activate the
0.5 psig [3.45 kPa(g)] ball check valve installed on outlet of instrument.
CUSTOMER REQUIREMENTS—ELECTRICIAN
1.
Ensure environment will support a NEMA 4X-type enclosure.
2.
Provide 100-130/200-250 VAC, 50/60 Hz, 5 A electrical services to TD1000C™.
3.
If the monitor’s 4–20 mA output signals will be used, check to see if an isolator should be
purchased. The 4–20 mA signals are internally powered—no loop power is required.
4.
Confirm flow switch jumper is in place or appropriate flow switch has been installed and
terminated on the terminal connection strip (see
Figure 7
).
FINAL REQUIREMENTS—WATER ENGINEER AND CUSTOMER
1.
If the monitor is to be installed by a third party arrange a time during start-up when you and the
customer can be trained together.
2.
Obtain needed materials (calibration solution, distilled water, cleaning solutions, calibration kit,
flow cell cleaning brushes) and site System Values (Cal Soln, Offset, Fluor Temp Comp ).
Customer Responsibilities:
This checklist outlines work required prior to start-up. This work is
necessary to ensure quality and proper operation. However, if any of these requirements cannot
be met, contact your Turner Designs Hydrocarbon Instruments representative or Turner Designs
Hydrocarbon Instruments.
