If the card has not been used before format the card (see Table 10: format)
N.B.:
The camera automatically saves photographs and video clips on a
memory card when one has been inserted into the camera. If this does
not happen check to see if the card has been put in properly.
The memory card can be removed by pressing this again. The card will now be partly
ejected and can be removed.
The external memory card must first be formatted for optimal use. See section 11.6.
N.B.:
Never remove a memory card whilst the camera is still processing data
(indicator lamp is flashing red, see 8, Figure 2). This could cause loss of
data or defects.
15 Using the camera as a webcam (PC)
This camera can also be used as a webcam. It can then be used to record live
moving images on a computer. The camera uses batteries in this mode also so
rechargeable NiMH batteries are recommended, see section 5.2.
Note
This function does not work on an Apple Macintosh computer.
Note
During installation in Windows, you may receive a message saying that
the driver has not been signed. This does not cause a problem for the
functionality. Continue with the installation.
The camera can be used as a webcam when it is connected to a computer as a ‘PC
Camera’. The webcam can be used for video conferencing over the Internet using,
for example, Microsoft NetMeeting or Windows Messenger.
N.B.:
Ensure that the driver has been installed as described in section 8.1.
1. Turn
on
your
camera.
2.
Set the camera to PC Camera mode via the main menu, option MODE
followed by PC Camera, see section 10.1.

Connect the camera to your computer.

Windows will detect new hardware. The driver will now be installed
automatically. It may be necessary to carry out further steps with Windows
XP. Follow the instructions on the screen. If a driver program has to be
chosen from a list always choose the first one.
Note:
It may be possible that a file will have to be installed from the original
Windows installation CD-ROM. Make sure you have your Windows CD-
ROM available. If a file cannot be found, specify the location as the
Windows installation CD-ROM.
