CE Compliance Requirements
In Europe, the

requires that the CE mark be placed on the
product as an indication of compliance to these directives.
The ASD is designed to be installed in an enclosure and is used in conjunction with other machines or
systems. Because the ASD does not function alone, it is not subject to the EMC Directive.
However, because the ASD is subjected to the Low-Voltage Directive, the CE mark must be placed on
all ASDs.
The CE mark must be placed on all machines and systems with a built-in ASD because the machines
and systems are subject to the above directives.
If the ASD is the final product, it may also be subject to machine-related directives. When required, it is
the responsibility of Toshiba International Corporation to place the CE mark on qualifying ASDs.
The CE Compliance section provides installation information and other required measures to satisfy the
EMC Directive and the Low-Voltage Directive.
Toshiba International Corporation has tested representative ASD models that were installed as
described in this manual to ensure compliance with the EMC Directive. Because system compliance is a
function of the installation and connectivity, not all ASDs can be tested for EMC Directive compliance.
Applicable EMC standards vary depending on the composition of the enclosure in which the ASD is
installed, the relationship with other electrical devices installed in the enclosure, wiring conditions,
equipment layout, etc. To that end, ensure that your machine or system complies with the EMC
standards as a whole.
Toshiba International Corporation has applied the following standards for systems deployed in the
European market.
