Servicing the Hydraulic
System
Hydraulic Fluid Type:
Toro
®
HYPR-OIL
™
500 hydraulic
oil or Mobil
®
1 15W-50.
Important:
Use the specified fluid . Other fluids could
damage the hydraulic system.
Each Hydraulic System Oil Capacity:
1.5 L (52 oz) per
side with filter change
Checking the Hydraulic Fluid
Service Interval:
Every 50 hours—Check the hydraulic-fluid
level.
1.
Position the machine on a level surface.
2.
Disengage the blade-control switch (PTO), move the
motion-control levers to the N

LOCK
position,
and set the parking brake.
3.
Shut off the engine, remove the key, and wait for all
moving parts to stop before leaving the operating
position.
4.
Allow the engine and the hydraulic system to cool for
10 minutes.
Note:
The oil level on the dipstick is incorrect when
the oil is checked and the unit is hot.
5.
Move the seat forward.
6.
Clean the area around the dipsticks of hydraulic-system
reservoirs (
).
7.
Remove 1 dipstick from the hydraulic reservoir (
8.
Wipe the dipstick off and thread the dipstick into the
reservoir.
9.
Remove the dipstick and look at the end (
Important:
Do not overfill the hydraulic units
with oil as damage may occur. Do not run the
machine with the oil below the add mark.
10.
If the oil level is at the add mark , slowly pour only
enough oil into the hydraulic reservoir to raise the level
to the full or
H
line.
11.
Install the dipstick.
12.
Repeat the procedure for the opposite dipstick.

WARNING
Hydraulic fluid escaping under pressure can
penetrate skin and cause injury.
•
If hydraulic fluid is injected into the skin it
must be surgically removed within a few
hours by a doctor familiar with this type
of injury. Gangrene may result if this is
not done.
•
Keep your body and hands away from
pinhole leaks or nozzles that eject
high-pressure hydraulic fluid.
•
Use cardboard or paper to find hydraulic
leaks.
•
Safely relieve all pressure in the hydraulic
system before performing any work on the
hydraulic system.
•
Make sure that all hydraulic-oil hoses
and lines are in good condition, and all
hydraulic connections and fittings are tight
before applying pressure to the hydraulic
system.
