Installing the Filter
1.
Check the safety-filter element (
). If it
is dirty, replace it.
Important:
Never attempt to clean the safety
filter (
). Replace the safety filter
with a new one after every 3 primary filter
services.

Inspect the new filter for shipping damage,
checking the sealing end of the filter element
and the body of the air filter.
Important:
Do not use a damaged filter
element.
3.
Assemble the primary-filter element. Apply
pressure to the outer rim of the element to seat
it in the air-filter housing.
Important:
Do not apply pressure to the
flexible center of the filter.
4.
Remove the dust-ejector valve from the
air-cleaner cover, clean the cavity, and install
the ejector valve to the cover.
5.
Assemble the cover onto the air-cleaner
housing, aligning the dust-ejector valve in a
downward position—between approximately 5
o’clock to 7 o’clock when viewed from the end.
6.
If a red band displays in the service indicator,
press the reset button at the end of the indicator
(
).

Oil Specification
Use high-quality engine oil that meets or exceeds the
following specifications:
API service category: CH-4 or higher.
Use the following engine oil viscosity grade:
•
Preferred oil: SAE 15W-40: above -18°C (0°F)
•
Alternate oil: SAE 10W-30 or 5W-30 (all
temperatures)
Toro Premium Engine Oil is available from your
authorized Toro distributor in either 15W-40 or 10W-30
viscosity grades.
Checking the Engine-Oil
Level
Service Interval:
Before each use or daily Add engine
oil as needed.
The engine is shipped with oil in the crankcase;
however, check the oil level before and after you first
start the engine.
Note:
The best time to check the engine oil is when
the engine is cool before it has been started for the
day. If the engine has already been run, wait 10
minutes before checking the oil level.

Unlatch and open the hood; refer to

3.
At the right side of the engine, remove the
dipstick from the dipstick tube (
) and
wipe the dipstick with a clean rag.
