Safety
PRESSURIZED OIL
•
Always use a board or cardboard
when checking for a pressurized oil
leak. Escaping fluid under pressure,
even a pinhole-sized leak, can
penetrate skin, causing serious injury,
and possible death. If fluid is injected
into your skin, it must be treated
immediately by a doctor familiar with
this type of injury.
•
Never loosen or remove any hydraulic
fitting without first verifying that all fluid
pressure has been relieved. Failure
to do so may result in unintended
movement of all or a portion of the
equipment, possibly causing severe
injury or death due to crushing or
cutting. Injury may also occur from
contact with oil under pressure that
may escape during fitting removal.
•
Accumulators used in this hydraulic
system can retain fluid under pressure
even after tractor hydraulic valve is
placed in FLOAT. Remove residual
pressure from wing tilt and main lift
accumulators by holding wing tilt and
main lift switches in DOWN position
for at least 20 seconds after cylinders
have stopped moving.
•
Safely relieve all fluid pressure from
hydraulic hoses before disconnecting
hydraulic couplings from tractor.
•
Do not bend or strike high-pressure
lines. Do not install bent or damaged
tubes or hoses.
•
Check hydraulic hoses and tubes
carefully. Replace components as
necessary if any of the following
conditions are found:
-
End fittings damaged or leaking.
-
Outer covering chafed or cut and
wire reinforcing exposed.
-
Outer covering ballooning locally.
-
Evidence of kinking or crushing of
the flexible part of a hose.
-
Armoring embedded in the outer
cover.
-
End fittings displaced.
•
Repair all oil leaks. Leaks can cause
fires, personal injury, and
environmental damage.
•
Route hoses and lines carefully to
prevent premature failure due to
kinking and rubbing against other
parts. Make sure that all clamps,
guards and shields are installed
correctly.
