6. Storage
6.1 Storage Safety
At the end of the season, the bale unroller should be
thoroughly inspected and prepared for storage. Repair
or replace any worn or damaged components to
prevent any unnecessary downtime at the beginning of
the next season.
CAUTION
Personal Injury Hazard
Store the bale unroller in an area away from
human activity. Always store the bale unroller
so the spikes will not cause harm to passing
pedestrians and other equipment. To prevent the
possibility of serious injury, do not permit children
to play on or around the stored bale unroller.
Crush Hazard
Always set the bale unroller on the parking
stand or on blocks for storage.
NOTICE
To prevent damage to the bale unroller, store it in a dry,
level area.
6.2 Placing In Storage
1. Remove all entangled material.
2. Thoroughly wash the bale unroller with a pressure
washer or water hose to remove all clippings, dirt,
mud, or debris.
3. Select an area that is dry, level, and free of debris
(inside a building is ideal). Move the bale unroller to
its storage area.
4. Raise the bale unroller with the tractor hydraulics
and place blocks under the arms. Lower the parking
stand.
5. Lower the bale unroller onto the blocks.
6. Disconnect the hydraulic hoses from the tractor.
Store the hoses on the A-Frame.
7. Disconnect the bale unroller from the tractor 3-point
hitch. Refer to “4.11 Detaching From Tractor” on
page 20. Drive the tractor away from the bale
unroller. Do not leave the tractor attached to the
bale unroller.
8. Lubricate all grease points. Make sure all grease
cavities have been fi lled with grease to remove any
water residue from washing.
9. Touch up all paint nicks and scratches to prevent
rusting.
6.3 Removing From Storage
1. Before placing the bale unroller back into service,
replace any worn or defective parts and perform the
Pre-Operation Checklist.
2. Follow the procedure in “4.3 Attaching to Tractor” on
page 17.
3. Raise the bale unroller off the blocks.
4. Retract and secure the storage stand.
