3—BIOS Setup Utility

Advanced Setup Configuration

prefetch IP addresses to improve network connectivity and system performance. The
options are Enabled and Disabled.

3.3.3.13 Intel Virtualization Technology (Available when supported by

the CPU)

Select Enabled to employ the feature of Virtualization Technology to allow one plat-
form to run multiple operating systems and applications in independent partitions,
producing multiple “virtual” systems in one physical computer. The options are

Enabled

(default) and Disabled.

3.3.4

CPU Power Management Configuration

This submenu allows the user to configure the following CPU Power Management
settings.

3.3.4.1 Power Technology

Select Energy Efficient to support power-saving mode. Select Custom to customize
system power settings. Select Disabled to disable power-saving settings. The options
are Disabled, Energy Efficient, and Custom. If the option is set to Custom, the fol-
lowing items will display:

EIST Technology (Available when Power Technology is set to
Custom)

EIST (Enhanced Intel SpeedStep Technology) allows the system to automatically
adjust processor voltage and core frequency in an effort to reduce power consump-
tion and heat dissipation. The options are Disabled (GV3 Disabled) and

(GV3 Enabled)

(default). (GV3 is Intel

Speedstep support used on older platforms.
