Note: Use the Degauss column function (click on the icon
) to make sure that the beam
is properly focused on the edge of the Faraday cup. If the Degauss column function causes
a blurring of the image, focus the beam and use the function again. Repeat this process until
the image remains in focus.
Note: Make sure that all the above mentioned steps are performed thoroughly, otherwise the
calibration will not be precise.

Open the FEG HV Supply Control panel in the main SEM menu (Figure 2).

Use the Calibrate button to open the Angular Brightness Calibration panel (Figure 3).

Measure the absorbed current by clicking on the Calibrate button. At first the value
of absorbed current is displayed and then the angular intensity appears in the
Confirm change panel (Figure 4).

If the new value of angular intensity is in the recommended range, accept the change
by clicking on the Yes button in the Confirm change panel. If the value is not within
the recommended range, do not confirm the new value. Make sure that you carried
out all previous steps correctly and contact customer support or your local supplier
for further assistance and instructions.
9.
Close the FEG HV Supply Control panel and the angular intensity calibration
procedure is finished.
Note: Carry out this calibration immediately after the electron gun starting procedure, then
following day, next week and after that every month to ensure the system remains
in optimum working condition.
