Chapter 3: Frame Installation
3.1 Installation Considerations
ALERT! Only qualified technicians may install and maintain this product.
ALERT! Do not stand on utility or fiber cable troughs at the base of ADFs.
3.1.1 Location & Space
The Main ADF and Interbay Storage Panel require space in front and at rear for access to cabling. Refer to
Figure 25, below. Choose a location in compliance with local operating company requirements.

3.1 Installation Considerations

ALERT! Do not stand on utility or fiber cable troughs at the base of ADFs.
3.1.1 Location & Space
The Main ADF and InterBay Storage Panel require space in front and at rear for access to
cabling. Refer to Figure 25, below. Choose a location in compliance with local operating
company requirements.

3.1.2 Tools & Equipment
The following tools are required for installing ADFs:
• 18-mm (or 23/32 in.) masonry bit
• 40 N
•
m torque wrench with a 19 mm box or open end. (A 19 mm socket can be used if the
socket is at least 54 mm deep.)
• Broadblade screwdriver (~8 mm or

/16 in. blade width)
• Horizontal or plumb level (optional)

3.1.2 Tools & Equipment
The following tools are required for installing ADFs:
• 18mm (or 23/32 in.) masonry bit
• 40 N•m torque wrench with a 19 mm box or open end (19mm socket can be used if the socket is at least 54
mm deep)
• Broad blade screwdriver (~8 mm or 5/16 in. blade width)
• Horizontal or plumb level (optional)
• Isolation pad (if required at base of frame)
• # 1 or # 2 Phillips screwdrivers (screwdrivers for cross-recessed screws) for attaching lower
trough junctions
