Controlling the Acquisition of Data > Using Triggers to

Save on Trigger
An additional feature of the triggering capability is to save acquisition data when a trigger event occurs.
When the spectrum analyzer is run in Triggered mode, you can con
fi gure the instrument to save acquisition
data to a fi le. You can also set the instrument to save a picture of the screen when the trigger event occurs.
See Action Tab (Triggering) (see page 332) for details on con fi guring Save on trigger.
Setting Up Triggering
To set up triggering, use the Trigger control panel. To display the Trigger control panel:
Press Trigger on the front panel or click Trig in the Application toolbar or select Tools > Trigger .
Using Free Run
To set Triggering to Free Run:
Click the Free Run option button.
The spectrum analyzer will acquire a signal without regard to any triggering conditions.
Using Power Trigger
To trigger acquisitions based on the power of the signal:
1. Click the Triggered option button.
2. Select RF Input from the Source drop-down list.
3. Select Power from the Type drop-down list.

Using Frequency Mask Triggering
To trigger acquisitions based on violations of a user-de fi ned mask:
1. Click the Triggered option button.
2. Select RF Input from the Source drop-down list.
3. Select Frequency Mask from the Type drop-down list.
