VX1410 IntelliFrame Instruction Manual
Standard Monitor Board.
The Standard Monitor board (A3) collects the monitor-
ing information from the power supply, fans, and Temperature Sense board and
passes the information to the 25-pin D connector. The monitor board connects
directly to the backplane at 0J3, 0P1 and 0P2.
The two fans connect to the Monitor board at J7 (Fan2) and J8 (Fan1). The Fan
Speed switch (S1) selects either variable fan speed (VAR) or full speed (FULL).
Table 3–1 on page 3–2 shows the pinouts of the 25-pin D connector.
Temperature Sense Board.
The Temperature Sense board (A2) monitors the
temperatures for each slot within the mainframe. The Temperature Sense Board
connects to the backplane through the ribbon cable at J16.
If your mainframe includes Option 1M, the Enhanced Monitor board replaces the
Standard Monitor board. Option 1M also includes a front panel display board.
Enhanced Monitor Board.
The Enhanced Monitor board (A5) has similar circuitry
and connectors as the Standard Monitor board. The Enhanced Monitor board
includes a nine-pin RS-232 port to connect to an external host. Address switches
near the bottom rear of the board allow you to select the VXIbus address. A
green READY indicator and amber ACCESSED indicator located at the bottom
of the board indicate the operating status of the mainframe.
The Enhanced Monitor board also has circuitry to allow you to communicate
with the mainframe with SCPI commands. These commands are detailed in the
Reference section of this manual.
An Auxiliary Power input connector is available to connect 5 volts from an
outside source to power the communication circuitry in the event of power
failure of the mainframe.
Monitor Display Board.
The Monitor Display board (A6) has a 20-character
alphanumeric display that displays the system messages on the front panel.
Scroll keys allow you to scroll through the messages one at a time. The display
board connects to the backplane through the ribbon cable at J18.
NOTE
. Mainframes with Option 2M: If your mainframe includes Option 2M,
there will be no front panel display. Otherwise, it is functionally identical to
Option 1M described above.
