Time  Difference  Between Two Time-Related  Pulses

1.  Preset  instrument  controls  and  obtain  a  Normal 

Sweep  Display.

2.  Using  probes  or  cables  having  equal  time  delays, 

apply  the  reference  signal  to the Channel  1  input  and apply 
the comparison  signal  to the Channel  2  input.

3. 

Set  both  VO LTS/DIV  switches  to   produce  a  display 

of either 4 or 5 divisions  in  amplitude.

4. 

Select  either  A L T   or  CHOP  V E R T IC A L   MODE, 

depending  on  the  input  frequencies  (or  select  AUTO 
VE R TIC A L  MODE  if automatic selection  is desired).

5. 

Set  the  A  SEC/DIV  switch  to  display  the  measure­

ment points o f interest w ithin the  graticule  area.

6. 

Select  the  A  INTEN  HORIZ  MODE  and  set  the 

B  SEC/DIV  switch  to  the  fastest sweep  speed that provides 

a usable  (visible)  intensified zone.

7.  Adjust  the  B  D ELAY  TIME  POSITION  control  to  

move the  intensified  zone to the first pulse  (see  Figure 27A, 
Point  A).

8.  Select  the  B  HORIZ  MODE  and  adjust the  B  D ELAY 

TIME  POSITION  control  to  move  the  rising portion  o f the 

first  pulse  (reference  signal)  to   a  convenient  vertical  refer­
ence  line  (see  Figure  27B).

9. 

Record  the  B  D ELAY  TIME  POSITION  control  dial 

setting.

10. 

Adjust  the  B  D ELAY  TIME  POSITION  control 

clockwise  until  the  rising  portion  o f  the  second  pulse 

(comparison  signal)  is  positioned  to  the same vertical  refer­

ence  line  (see  Figure  27B).

NOTE

I f  several pulses are displayed,  return  to  the A  INTEN

 

position  to  locate  the  correct  pulse.  Do  not change

 

the setting o f  the horizontal POSITION control.
