7.4.2 Gearbox

The gearbox can be removed and refitted with the motor attached or removed.

Remove

1. Observe all warnings and cautions, refer to Sections 3 and 5.1.

2. Support the gearbox and remove the screws that secure the gearbox to the

gearbox flange, see Fig. 14.

3. Remove gearbox from the machine. Take care not to put any side loading on the

gear location dowels.

Refit

Refitting the gearbox is the reverse procedure of removal.

7.4.3 Shear pin replacement

Turn the leadscrew so that the shear pin is over the cavity in the saddle casting.

Drift the old pin out and replace with a new pin, see Fig. 14.

Only use a pin of similar type to ensure the pin shears at the correct torque. Failure

to do so will result in damage to the feed mechanism.
