5.2.3 Saddle Assembly Installation
The saddle assembly is installed on the drive ring and bearing assembly as
follows:
I. Observe all Warnings and Cautions, refer to Sections 3 and 5.1.
2. To remove or replace the toolpost carriage, slacken off the gib strip adjusters.
Set traverse selector between feeds and using a 6mm AF Allen key in the end
of the leadscrew wind the toolpost along the saddle leadscrew until it slides
out of the dovetails. To replace, make sure the gib adjusting balls are fitted
behind the gib strip. Offer the toolpost back onto the saddle and wind back
into the dovetails. Then adjust the gib strip (see Fig. 11).
3. Fit the saddle to the drive unit, and secure with the three M10 x 30 screws
(Fig. 10).
4. The machine is now ready for setting up the cutting tool.
SHOULD THE MACHINE TOOLPOST OR SURFACING ARM JAM AGAINST AN
OBSTRUCTION ON OR ABOUT THE FLANGE, TURN OFF THE AIR AT THE AIR
CONTROL VALVE AND ALLOW THE PRESSURE TO DISPERSE BEFORE
MOVING THE SURFACING ARM BACK TO CLEAR THE OBSTRUCTION.
