Chapter 2 Conference Main Unit (CMU)
The Conference Main Unit (CMU) forms the core of the
entire conference system, and provides power supply
to all contribution units, meanwhile, serving as the key
component to link up hardware with application
software. In stand-alone mode without a PC, the CMU
only carries out basic management facilities; while
more comprehensive management facilities can be
implemented in PC-controlled mode.
The devices that can be controlled by the CMU include:
discussion units, voting units, sign-in machine,
professional digital audio & video recorder and video
switcher, etc. One CMU accomodates as many as 120
discussion units (without LCD).
In case more contribution units are needed in a system:
EMU(s) are added. A single EMU powers up to 120
discussion/voting units. A single CMU + EMU(s)
system controls up to 256 discussion/voting units;
Or
CMU(s) are added into the local network via HUB.
A multi-CMU + EMU(s) system controls up to 256
discussion units or 4096 voting units per
multi-CMU system.
