Output phase
With particular instruments or voices the human ear is certainly capable of
detecting whether absolute phase is correct or not. However, absolute phase is
not always correctly recorded.
In this menu item the phase of the signal can be changed from normal to
inverse phase and back.
The correction is carried out at the digital level, and has absolutely no adverse
effect on sound quality.
Notes on operation at high DSD bandwidth
The setting
DSD 4
filter and the
True DSD
technique place a much more
severe load on your amplifiers and speakers - particularly in combination with
the “High” setting for analogue bandwidth. The lower the DSD sampling rate,
the higher the load on the treble drive units. If the material is of the DSD64
type, the load may be more than twice as high.
Certain loudspeaker designs, such as electrostatic types (e.g.
CWT
speaker series), can usually cope without problem, but dynamic loudspeakers
(dome tweeters) may suffer damage at high listening levels. For this reason it is
essential to check with the manufacturer of your loudspeakers whether the
treble units can tolerate such loads.
If you are not sure whether your amplifier and / or your speakers can withstand
these higher loads at high DSD bandwidth, please select the settings: filter
“
DSD 1, DSD2 or DSD3
”.
If you are aware of audible distortion even at normal listening levels, either your
amplifier or your loudspeakers are not suitable for reproducing broad-band
DSD signals. If this should happen, please use the filter settings
“
DSD 1, DSD2
or DSD3
”.
Caution at high listening volumes
At
high listening volumes
(“party mode”) we recommend that you always use
the settings filter “
DSD 1
”, independent of the DSD sampling rate.
