OpenBoot PROM and Software
Requirements for UltraSPARC III Cu
CPU Modules

You may need to upgrade your workstation’s OpenBoot™ PROM firmware, the
Solaris operating environment (OE) and related patches.

TABLE 2

lists the minimum

software versions necessary for installing Cu CPU modules.

Note –

Always check the Sun web site for the latest compatible operating

environment, firmware, and software updates for your workstation.

Installing the UltraSPARC III Cu CPU
Module

Before installing an UltraSPARC III Cu CPU module, verify the hardware and
software compatibility as described in the next section.

Verifying Software and Hardware Compatibility

1. Verify that the CPUs you intend to install are compatible.

See “Rules for Installing Cu CPU Modules” on page 2
