There is an alignment pin at the side of the top disc, see Figure 33, which assures that the 
orientation of the detector is correct. This pin must fit into a groove in the base plate of the 
PHOIBOS analyzer. The entire lens system of the detector is mounted on springs. The springs 
will press the top disc firmly into the base plate of the PHOIBOS, once the top disc with its 
pin is in the correct position. 
 
Mount a new CF 150 gasket. Also note that it is necessary to put in some of the stud bolts 
before the detector is inserted into the detector port of the PHOIBOS, as shown in Figure 33. 
Carefully slide the top disc of the detector into the detector flange of the PHOIBOS. It can be 
felt and heard when the top disc snaps into position. The lens system with the top disc can 
be moved by reaching in (use gloves!) through the CF 200 flange to reach the support rods of 
the lens system, see Figure 34. If the top disc will not snap in, guide the top disc by holding 
the support rods.
