Basic operation
Before you go out
Make sure the date and time are set correctly (see
page 111).
Press
message
on the base phone so that the
button lights up.
When a caller calls
The prerecorded greeting will be played back and
the phone records the caller’s message.
When the memory is full
The total recording time of this answering machine is
approximately 10 minutes including the greeting and
messages or up to 20 messages. When the memory is
full, no more recordings can be made.
Tips
• You can record your own greeting. See page 119.
• You can answer the phone after checking who is calling.
Pick up the receiver or press
talk
on the handset after
you hear the caller’s voice. The recording stops when
you answer the call.
Notes
• If you hear an error beep with “C42” when you press
message
, the memory is full. Erase some of the
unnecessary messages before you press
message
again.
• The line is disconnected if the caller does not speak for
more than 7 seconds.
• When the memory becomes full, the greeting will change
to one that asks the caller to call back and no further
recordings can be made.
When you come home
1 Check the

button to see if there
are new messages.
If the button is flashing, there are new messages.
If the button stays lit, there are no new messages.
2 To listen to the messages with the
answering machine set to on, press
play/stop
.
The messages will be played back and the time of
recording is announced for each message. The
button remains lit.
To turn the answering machine off and listen to
the messages
Press
message
so that the lamp on the button goes off.
The messages will be played back and the time and
day stamp is announced after each message if you
have set the date and time (page 111).
