There is no sound.
If other troubles not described above occur, reset the system as follows:

With the system turned on, hold down MENU/NO and TUNING MODE (for DHC-EX880MD)
or PRESET (for DHC-MD717) on the tuner and press

(power).
“COLD SET OK!” appears.

Press
1/u
(power) again.
“OFF” appears, followed by the clock.

Unplug the power cord.

Plug the power cord into the wall outlet.
The system is reset to the factory settings. All the settings you made such as the preset stations,
clock, timer and CD disc titles are cleared. You should set them again.
The sound source is set to MD.
m
Switch to another sound source.
A premastered MD is inserted in the deck.
m
Replace the MD with a recordable MD.
There is no time remaining on the MD.
m
Replace the disc with a recordable MD, or use the Erase Function to erase
unnecessary tracks (see page 60).
The power cord was unplugged or a power interruption occurred during
recording.
m
Start recording over from the beginning.
The system is not set properly.
m
Refer to General item “There is no sound” on page 94 and check the condition
of the system.
The optional AV component is not connected properly.
m
Connect the component properly (see page 80) while checking:
• if the audio cords are connected properly.
• if the cable connectors are firmly inserted all the way.
You cannot listen to the sound of a digital component just by connecting the
optical cable (sold separately). You must also connect the digital component
using an audio cord (sold separately).
The connected component is not turned on.

Turn on the connected component.
The connected component has not started playback.
m
Refer to the operating instructions included with the connected component and
start playback.
