The disc tray will

The timer was not set correctly before you turned off the system.

Press ONCE, DAILY or REC to set the timer and light up the indicator (see
pages 75 and 78).
The set time is incorrect.
m
Check the set contents and set the correct time (see pages 75 and 78).
(For DHC-EX880MD only) The audio bus cable of the optional TC-TX770 tape
deck is not connected.
m
Connect the audio bus cable properly (see page 84).
The timer of the connected optional component is not set.
m
Refer to the operating instructions included with the connected component and
set the timer to the same time as the system’s timer.
There is an obstacle between the remote and the system.
m
Remove the obstacle.
The remote is too far from the system.
m
Move the remote closer to the system.
The remote is not pointing in the direction of the system’s sensor.
m
Point the remote at the system’s sensor.
The remote’s batteries have run down.
m
Replace the batteries (R6/size AA).
The system is near an inverter type fluorescent light.
m
Locate the system away from the fluorescent light.
The self-diagnosis display function is activated.

Take the appropriate measures (see page 90).
You have not removed the transit key from the bottom of the CD player.

Turn off the system and wait until the clock appears in the display, then
remove the transit key (see page 5) and turn on the system again.
If the disc tray still does not open, consult your nearest Sony dealer.
The disc is not placed in the center of the tray.
