sivity table. Poorly chosen value of the emissivity coefficient may cause significant tempera-
ture reading errors. And for that reason the camera allows to adjust the value of the coeffi-
cient in the range of 0.01 ... 1.00.
Measurement accuracy also depends on the ambient temperature (also known as the re-
flected temperature). By default, the temperature measured by the camera is used, however
it should be remembered that ambient temperature is neither the temperature of the air sur-
rounding the camera, nor the temperature of the measure object itself. The ambient temper-
ature is the temperature of the object (the energy emitted by the object), which is reflected
on the surface of the object being measured. In order to maintain accuracy of measure-
ments, proper value of ambient temperature should be accounted for - especially, if the
emissivity coefficient is changed or these changes will be performed by processing a
thermal image with computer program . This value should be changed manually in order
to determine proper relation of the examined object temperature and the surrounding tem-
perature.
The influence of the distance from the object on the measurement accuracy may be sig-
nificant, depending on the medium in which the object is located (air, fog, smoke ...) and
its impact on the attenuation of thermal radiation. It is possible to adjust this value
.
Relative humidity may also influence the accuracy of measurement, it is possible to change
the default value for any value from
the range of 0…100%.
Wind (air flow) is another factor influencing the measurement of the object's temperature, as
it cools the surface of an object altering its temperature. Pictures should not be taken in
strong wind.
Additionally, to achieve an accurate temperature readout, hold the camera steady. It is rec-
ommended to carry out the auto-calibration of the camera, before starting to capture images.
