MEP-802A Operation in High-altitude and Extreme Climatic
Conditions
Adjustments to the auto start components on the generator can be made to improve the start-up.
Adjusting the preheat time on the MEP-802A:
The remote start system, as delivered, is configured with a 20-second preheat, which should
allow for sufficient preheat in all climates. The preheat can be increased to NO MORE THAN 25
seconds by turning R4 clockwise to increase/counterclockwise to decrease. Turn the screw in
R4 no more than a quarter of a turn between tests. The crank/run relay (R1) is set to a maximum
of 15 seconds and should not be adjusted. If the generator does not start on the first attempt,
another attempt will be made in 2.5 minutes. A total of four (4) start attempts will be made before
a reset of the system is required.
Please see the “MEP-802A REMOTE START SYSTEM INSTALLATION AND OPERATION MANUAL”
for detailed instructions on how to make the adjustments described above.
Li Expander Pak 2400 High Internal Temperature
High internal temperatures may cause Expander Paks to shut down temporarily or permanently. The
BMS built into the Expander Pak 2400s will temporarily disable output if the BMS detects an internal
temperature over 71 ºC (160 ºF); output will resume when the internal temperature decreases to 65
ºC (149 ºF). The BMS will permanently disable output if the internal temperature reaches 91 ºC (196
ºF).
