Chapter 3: Setting Up the Terminal Emulator and Starting WebFORCE Internet Gateway
Internet address (or
primary internet
address)
This is the Internet address (also known as
an IP address) of your gateway server.
Your ISP provides an IP address for your
server. If you have not yet obtained an IP
address, you can use the default test
address that is assigned to the machine
when it leaves the factory.
See “Glossary” for a description of IP
addresses.
Example:
151.166.96.36
Example:
192.0.2.1 (default test address)
Netmask
The netmask specifies how much of the
address to reserve for subdividing
networks into subnetworks. The mask
includes the network part of the local
address and the subnet part, which is taken
from the host field of the address. The
mask can be specified as a single
hexadecimal number with a leading 0x,
with a dot-notation Internet address, or
with a pseudo-network name listed in the
network table networks(4). The mask
contains 1’s for the bit positions in the
32-bit address that are to be used for the
network and subnet parts, and 0’s for the
host part. The mask should contain at least
the standard network portion, and
the subnet field should be contiguous with
the network portion.
