6.3.11 Diagnostic functions
Description
You can activate and evaluate many diagnostic functions locally or from a central control
room:
● Calibration timer and service timer (Page 164)
● Min/max indicator (Page 165)
● Limit monitor (Page 166)
The diagnostic concept for the pressure transmitter envisages among other things that the
diagnostic functions have available facilities such as monitoring limit values by assigning
parameters to a limit transmitter warning and/or to a limit transmitter alarm:
● Limit transmitter warning: The device transmits via HART communication the diagnostic
event that has occurred. The current output value is unaffected.
● Limit transmitter alarm: The device switches to the status fault current (Page 101).
As standard, all limit transmitter warnings and limit transmitter alarms, together with all
calibration timer and service timer requests and alarms, are switched off. Optionally, they
can be set either to give only warnings or a combination of alarms and warnings. The
necessary steps for this can be found in the table for operation in the appendix or in the Help
functions in the SIMATIC PDM software.

6.3.11.1 Calibration timer and service timer
Description
To ensure regular calibration of the electronics and for service work on the sensor, you
activate a two-stage timer in each case. On expiry of the first time period, a calibration or
service request is made. On expiry of a second time span set by parameter as a time
difference, a diagnostic alarm is reported and a fault current is output.
The calibration intervals for the electronics are calculated using the following formula:
For performance of the calibration work, you must acknowledge the requests and alarms.
Then you can reset the timer. In addition, there is a facility to deactivate the monitoring
function.
