Section 6: Other Features
6.1 Data Communications
Two serial communication ports, COM1 and COM2 are provided. RS485 connections are available on the
terminal blocks at the rear of the relay (COM1). A USB port, (COM 2), is provided at the front of the relay for local
access using a PC.
Optionally, additional IEC61850 communication ports are available: -
2x Electrical Ethernet with RJ45 connectors IEC 61850 - (COM 3),
2x Optical Ethernet with Duplex LC 100BaseF connectors IEC 61850 - (COM 3)
The rear com1 port can be selected to operate as a local or a remote port operation.
Serial communication is compatible with Modbus-RTU, IEC60870-5-103 FT 1.2 and DNP 3.0 transmission and
application standards.
For communication with the relay via a PC (personal computer) a user-friendly software package, Reydisp, is
available to allow transfer of relay settings, waveform records, event records, fault data records,
Instruments/meters and control functions. Reydisp is compatible with IEC60870-5-103.
Data communications operation is described in detail in Section 4 of this manual.
6.2 IEC 61850 Communications
The relay can optionally be provided with IEC61850 comms.
IEC61850 is provided with an added EN100 communication module.
The following EN100 output alarms are provided:
EN100 Life:
When the relay is powered up, the EN100 Module initializes with the relay.
When initialization is successful this point becomes true.
EN100 Error:
During relay operation, if an error occurs with the data communication
between the EN100 module and the relay, this point becomes true. - This
does not specify if there is an error with one of the communication channels
(Link 1/2)
IEC61850 Configured:
This point will become true when an IEC 61850 station/network has been
configured and the all 61850 associated data has been synchronized to the
relay
EN100 Ch1 Link Down:
When communication is lost on the Channel 1 Ethernet port this point
becomes true.
EN100 CH2 Link Down:
When communication is lost on the Channel 2 Ethernet port this point
becomes true.
