Lens
Both the front module and the connector module have threaded mounting holes for fastening.
In addition, the front module has precision mounting holes for accurate sensor to housing
mounting. A CAD drawing of the Ranger-X3 kit is available from your contact person at SICK.
When designing the triangulation setup with the camera modules and a laser source, make
sure that the bending radius of the flex cable is not too small. A bending radius smaller than
1.5 mm may damage the cable.
4.2.
Handling the camera modules
Be careful when handling the Ranger-X3 modules. The two modules contain sensitive
electronic components without mechanical protection and the flex cable is sensitive to
mechanical stress.
Remove the plastic transportation protection before integration of Ranger X3. Also remove the
protection foils from the front module.
There is no additional protection glass between the imager and lens on the front module.
NOTICE
Be careful not to get dust or dirt on the imager.
Before implementing the front module containing the imager into the housing, it is required to
check the imager glass lid for dirt.
