Product information
Ranger-X3 is a high-speed 3D camera OEM kit that facilitates integration into customized
compact 3D systems with protective casing and pre-configured field-of-view. The kit consists of
two modules; front module and connector module, connected with a flex cable. This allows for
a high degree of freedom in the design of the compact system supporting a wide range of
triangulation geometries. The front module hosts the 3D image sensor and has an open
mechanical interface to a lens mount part. This lens mount is not included but must be
designed and manufactured by an Integrator to their specific needs. The connector module
hosts the connector and LED interfaces. These can be directly integrated through the
protective casing and re-used as the electrical and visual interface of the compact system.
To form a complete compact 3D system, the camera kit needs to be complemented by at least
a line projecting laser and a lens (see Figure 1, Example of an integrated system). The laser
can be connected directly to the connector module with an internal connector. External power
can be provided to the laser via the external connector interface. The design of the protective
casing, including internal mounting of the two modules, the laser and the lens mount part is at
the full responsibility of the Integrator.
The Ranger-X3 is available in three different versions: Pro, Prime and Core. They are based on
Ranger3-60, Ranger3-40, and Ranger3-30 respectively. They differ in speed and resolution,
see Technical data. From a software and functionality aspect, the Ranger-X3 is closely related
to the Ranger3 camera. Please refer to the Ranger3 user documentation for further
information.
The Ranger-X3 may only be resold or integrated in an assembly into a compact 3D system as
described above. All certifications and liability necessary for resales or integration has to be
provided by the Integrator.
Ranger-X3 doesn't guaranty any IP protection class, as it has to be implemented into an
appropriate housing which provides the IP classification required. The Integrator also has to
take care of the IP tightness of the connector module plugs for the specified classification.
The Ranger-X3 housing parts (front and connector module) must be thermally well connected
to the device aluminum housing in which it is integrated. The device aluminum housing itself
also needs to be connected to an appropriate aluminum profile or fastening bracket.
Save the original transport protection and use it if sending the unit for service or repair.
