HW diagnostics… - Sine wave generator
The Tester is equipped with a controlled current generator employed to generate a test
signal for measurements and self-test. The frequency and amplitude set in this menu
are used for self-test only (4.4.13). When testing geophones, the signal frequency and
amplitude are set as described in 4.4.3.8 and 4.4.3.9.
Pressing the START-STOP button can start and stop continuous generation of a signal
with preset frequency and amplitude. This function is used for setting the Tester.
Pressing the ESC button causes signal generation to stop, following which return to the
“HW diagnostics” menu takes place.
4.4.12.1. Frequency
The parameter can take values from 1 to 79 Hz. The parameter value can be changed
both by the use of LEFT and RIGHT arrows and by entering a number.
4.4.12.2. Amplitude
The parameter can take values from 0.01 to 2.55 mA. The parameter value can be
changed both by the use of LEFT and RIGHT arrows and by entering a number.

HW diagnostics… - Self-test
When this menu option is executed, the Tester checks characteristics of its measuring
channel. Checking takes approximately 4 seconds, after which the obtained data are
displayed on the screen (Fig. 17). The range of permissible values of controlled
characteristics is shown in square brackets. To carry out self-checking, internal
standard 1.00 kOhm resistor (checking THD, resistance, impedance, inherent noise and
offset) and 10.0MΩ resistor (leakage checking) are connected to the measuring
channel.
