1. Sanding belt/disc too coarse for desired
finish.
2. Too much sanding force on workpiece.
3. Workpiece sanded across the grain.
4. Workpiece held still for too long against belt/
disc.
1. Use finer grit sanding belt/disc (

2. Reduce pressure on workpiece while sanding.
3. Sand with grain.
4. Keep workpiece moving while sanding.
Sanding belt/disc
clogs quickly.
1. Too much pressure on sanding belt/disc.
2. Sanding softwood.

4. Sanding belt/disc worn or damaged.
1. Reduce pressure on workpiece while sanding.
2. Use different stock, or accept characteristics of
stock and plan to clean/replace sanding belt/
disc frequently.
