ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS - Continued
CONNECTING DRIVELINE & GEARBOX
1. Loosen the driveline shield bolts and tip the
shield upward. Install the bored yoke end of the
driveline to the gearbox input shaft. Using a 90°
snap ring plier, install the external snap ring (2)
onto the gearbox input shaft. Install a 3/8-16 x 2
Hex skt. head Grade 5 shear bolt (1) and
locknut, lip the shield down and tighten the shield
bolts.

IMPORTANT
Make sure the snap ring is in place as a missing
snap ring will allow the driveline to come off
when the shear bolt breaks, severely damaging
mower and tractor components.
INSTALLING LIFT ARMS
1. The lift arms are installed with the lift link
bracket up and the arms pointed outward. Fasten
each lift arm to the tractor with the flat lock clevis
pins (3) and retain with hairpin clips. The lock tab
on the clevis pin should be oriented with tab to
the inside of the lift arm.
NOTE:
There is a supply of shims (4) fastened to the
inside of each lift arm. They are provided to take
up looseness between the tractor and mower lift
arm. Adjust, as shown, making sure shim
material is firmly fastened to the lift arm.
2. Assemble the lift link adjusting rod, 5/8-11 nut,
and threaded block as shown. Make sure that
the clevis pin hole (5) in the block is pointing
rearward. Binding or misalignment will occur if
assembled incorrectly.
3. Install 5/8 flat washer and cushion over lift rod.
Put lift rod through lift arm and install second
cushion and Lifting Collar. Retain Lifting Collar
with 5/16 x 1 5/8 clevis pin and wire ring.
4. Start the engine and raise the lift arms. Shut
off the engine.
NOTE:
Following mower deck installation, adjust the
rear lift links as shown on page 7, and adjust the
weight transfer valve as shown on page 9, to
ensure the deck is level before mowing.
