Why can't I communicate with other computers through wireless LAN?
•
Confirm the antennas are enabled with pressing Fn+F1 ( ) key combination.
When the antenna indicator is on, the antennas are enabled. (Refer to the Activating
Antenna section of Wireless LAN in Chapter 4.)
•
Confirm each computer is enabled for wireless LAN.
•
Confirm Computer-to-computer (ad hoc) networks only is selected in the Networks
to Access of Advanced dialog box. (To open the Advanced dialog box, refer to the
Communicating with Other Computers section in Chapter 4.) Also confirm the
other computers are in ad-hoc mode.
•
Adjust the distance between your computers by bringing your computer closer to
others and remove any obstructions that may impede the communication; then, try
to connect again.
•
Confirm the IP address and the subnet mask of each computer are set correctly.
•
Confirm the WEP keys are correctly set to your computer if the WEP security of
the communicated computers is enabled.
Why is the connection to the access point unstable?
•
Follow these steps to reconfigure the wireless LAN settings.
1. Click start – Control Panel .
2. Click Network and Internet Connections .
3. Click Network Connections .
4. Click Wireless Network Connection and the Change settings of this connection
string in the Network Tasks field.
5. Click the Configure… button.
6. Click the Advanced tab and select the Super Mode in the Property list.
7. Select Disabled in the Value pull-down menu.
8. Click OK and close the window.
How can I detect the MAC address?
•
Follow the instructions below:
1. Click start – All Programs – Accessories – Command Prompt .
2. Type
ipconfig/all
; then, press Enter . The information about IP appears.
