5. LATEX WRIST AND NECK SEALS
All SF Tech Drysuits come standard with latex wrist and neck seals for watertight integrity.
USAGE
Always use caution when pulling on the wrist and neck seal. Do not use excessive force and avoid
contact with sharp objects, like rings and fingernails, as it might damage the seals. To facilitate
donning and doffing, dust the inside of the seals with unperfumed
talcum powder. Do not put too
much talc as the excess will go in the drysuit and might clog up the dump valve over time.
TRIMMING THE SEALS
To provide a comfortable yet watertight seal, it might be necessary to trim the latex seals. The latex
seals are tapered and have multiple trim lines over the end. Carefully cut off one section at a time
with a sharp scissors to achieve a snug fit. Always use sharp scissors and cut the seal as smooth
as possible. Do not cut across the trim lines and avoid any sharp edges.

STORAGE AND MAINTENANCE
Rinse the seals with clean fresh water after every dive. Accumulated body oils will shorten the
lifetime of the latex seals. Store the suit in a cool dry place and avoid direct sunlight. Ultra-violet
light will degrade the latex over time. Avoid any contact between the latex seals and any other
synthetic material for a long period of time (f.ex. plastic hanger). If the seals have been exposed
to cold temperature, they will become stiff and lose flexibility. This condition is not permanent and
can be resolve by a brief immersion in warm water. It is recommended to dust the latex seals with
unperfumed
talcum powder before storing the suit for any length of time.
Do not use any oil-
based product on the seals
.
ALLERGY
A small percentage of the population have an allergic reaction to the proteins present in natural
rubber latex. The allergy generally develops after repeated exposure to products containing natural
rubber latex, such as the wrist and neck seals. This allergy can range from mild skin rash to severe
life-threatening reaction. It is the user responsibility to determine any allergic reaction to latex,
before or during the dive, and to discontinue using a drysuit with latex seals. In case of any allergic
reaction, the drysuit manufacturer can provide alternative materials such as silicone or neoprene.
