8.7.1 Theory of Operation
1. Overview
The GPS unit mounted on the radome provides clock time and position information. The GPS unit is
attached to the radome as one GPS antenna and receiver [12120004] (Acutime Gold).
The part is mounted to the inside of the radome bottom. See Figure 8-24 on the following page.
The GPS antenna is held to the radome bottom with double-sided VHB adhesive tape.
2. Communications and Configuration
The GPS antenna [12120004] provides accurate clock time and location information to the tracking antenna.
sunclock is used to read the date and time from the GPS antenna and update the system clock accordingly.
whereami is used to read the antenna’s latitude and longitude from the GPS and update the file
$PASSDIR/last_location.
3. GPS Configuration
Use the following settings in $PASSDIR/config/system.config:
