8.4.6 Level Platform (Level Cage) Drive Motor [12574035]
Tools:
#2 Phillips screw driver
3mm (1/8") flat-blade screwdriver
Part Location:
The level platform is located on the equipment frame (see item 35 on drawing 70909012, page 45).
Procedure:
1. Turn off power to the antenna.
2. Remove the level platform drive motor cable from its connector.
3. Remove the four screws holding the level platform drive motor to the equipment frame.
4. Unhook the drive belt from the old motor and remove the motor.
5. Replace the old motor with the new one and hook the drive belt around the motor sprocket. Loosely
reattach the motor to the equipment frame.
6. Push the motor away from the level platform to tighten the drive belt then tighten the four screws
holding the motor bracket to the equipment frame.
7. Check the belt tension and repeat step 6 until proper tension is achieved.
8. Reattach the level platform drive motor cable.
9. Turn on power to the antenna.
Diagnostics After Completing Repair:
1. The level platform should rotate counterclockwise on startup and then return clockwise to a
level position (level position is shown in Figure_8-6B, page 125).
2. Perform the tests of section 5.1, page 83 , and observe correct operation of the antenna.
