Check Relay Self-Tests
EN LED Illuminated But No Access Level 0 Prompt
If the EN LED is illuminated but the Access Level 0 prompt does not appear,
the relay data transmission rate is at the value that you recorded in
Step 1. Change the computer terminal speed to match the relay data
transmission rate. Perform

Communications Speed to the Relay on page B.8

Step 2. Press
<Enter>
to check for the Access Level 0 action prompt =
indicating that serial communication is successful.
Step 3. Proceed to
Verify Calibration, Status, and Metering on
EN LED Not Illuminated
If the EN LED does not illuminate, the relay can display various self-test
status messages.
Step 1. Press the
{STATUS}
pushbutton on the relay front panel to
view front-panel status messages. Use the up and down
pushbuttons to scroll through the various status messages.
If no fail status message appears, contact your Technical
Service Center (see
Section 10: Testing and Troubleshooting
).
If fail status messages display CR_RAM and EEPROM
messages, the relay data transmission rate has reverted to the
factory default of 2400 bps, settings are at the default values,
and the relay default passwords are active.
Step 2. Change the computer terminal speed to match the default relay
data transmission rate (2400 bps). (See
Communications Speed to the Relay on page B.8
.)
a. Terminate relay communication.
b. Change communications software settings to 2400 bps,
8 data bits, 1 stop bit.
c. Reestablish communication.
d. Press
<Enter>
to check for the Access Level 0 action
prompt = indicating that serial communication is
successful
Step 3. Issue the
ACC
and
2AC
commands to enter Access Level 2.
The factory default passwords are in effect; use the default
relay passwords listed in the
PAS
command in
Step 4. Type
R_S<Enter>
to restore factory default settings in the
relay.
The relay prompts whether to restore default settings. If your
relay does not accept the
R_S
command, contact the factory or
your Technical Service Center for assistance.
Step 5. Type
Y<Enter>
.
The relay can take as long as two minutes to restore default
settings. The relay then reinitializes, and the EN LED
illuminates.
